NORTHERN VICTORIAN WHEAT COUNTRY RAIN POTENTIAL OUTLOOK UPDATED 3/7/2008 DISCUSSION: Another large high moves into northern Victoria today and Friday then gradually recedes east of Victoria through Saturday and Sunday, (Expect overnight frosts at least to Sunday morning). A broad rather slow moving trough drifts in from WA and SA Sunday to Tuesday then a serries of troughs pass across northern Victoria to at least next Thursday. The initial trough later Sunday and Monday has potential for light rain areas as the mid levels become increasingly more unstable with a reasonable mid and upper moisture feed from the Indian Ocean (jet stream). At this stage appears only light falls are a risk 3 to 10mm, a series of southern Ocean cold fronts break across the northern plains from Tuesday to next Thursday with bands of showers again at this stage patchy falls 2 to 6mm. Will keep an eye next weeks system however especially if a cold pool moves across Victoria mid week... FROST POTENTIAL: Increasing frost risk from Friday to Sunday mornings and a risk of locally severe frosts Saturday morning....Frost risk declines from Sunday to at least later next week. Forecasts are assembled using a mix of traditional methods and new forecasting methods developed by AUSSKY ...They are issued free and are for a guide to rainfall potential only...The outlooks are offered for up to 7 days with updates... |
